Information

Decision of Director General of Immigration, Dated October 17, 2024 (IMI-1029.GR.01.01)

Foreign nationals residing in Indonesia with stay permits (ITAS/ITAP) have long been required to report any changes to their personal information or employment details. However, the above regulation now mandates that such changes must be reported to the respective regional immigration office within 60 days.

Be mindful of the following cases:

~ Relocation: Moving to a new residence (including changes within the same apartment complex).

~ Passport Renewal: Changes to passport information (e.g., name, place of origin) or issuance of a new passport with a different number.

~ Change of Visa Sponsor: Transitioning to a different employer or shifting from a work visa (sponsored by an employer) to a dependent visa (sponsored by an Indonesian spouse), and vice versa.

~ Birth of a Child: If a child is born to a foreign national holding an ITAS/ITAP, a report must be filed with the immigration office within 90 days of the birth date.

What happens if you fail to report?
Failure to report changes in registered information may result risks and receiving notification from immigration bureau. The risks include:

~ Potential penalties, including imprisonment of up to 3 months or a fine of up to IDR 25,000,000.

~ Confiscation of the affected foreign national’s original passport.

~ In severe cases, deportation may be enforced for persistent negligence.
